LED Drivers for tape light can be divided into 3 groups;

Dimming drivers - These drivers can be used with compatible line voltage wall box dimmers to dim the tape lighting.

Non-dimming drivers - These drivers can not be used with a dimmer, however you can still dim the tape by way of a controller and a bluetooth remote or app on your phone.

Dimmer and driver combo device - These devices are the simplest way to power and control single color tape lighting.

Dimming Drivers

These drivers are designed to be dimmed on the line voltage side via a compatible traditional dimmer. This allows for a intuitive experience using dimmers that match the customers other wall box devices.

TRE24L40DC 24VDC 40W LED driver. Rated IP 67 for wet applications. See compatible dimmers here.

TRE24L96DC 24VDC 96 LED driver. Rated IP 67 for wet applications. See compatible dimmers here.

Non-Dimming Drivers

These are line voltage drivers simply plug into a receptacle making installation a snap. They can be used with or without a controller depending on the tape it's powering. They can power standard 30K tape light directly, and in combination with a controller they can power CCT tunable, RGBW, and other tape lights. Dimming can still be acheived by way of an inexpensive controller on the output side of the driver. For more information about dimming tape light see this article.

PGID2448-24V 24VDC 48W LED driver. This drivers have a cord with 120V male plug end for simple plug-in installations.

PGID2496-24V 24VDC 96W LED driver. This drivers have a cord with 120V male plug end for simple plug-in installations.

Dimmer / Driver Combo Devices

DimDrive

DimDrive next-generation constant voltage LED driver integrates a dimmer and on/off control directly into the unit, eliminating compatibility headaches and reducing installation complexity. DimDrive is the ideal choice for contractors, designers, and end-users seeking a reliable, compact solution for 24V LED lighting.

DD-24100-S-WH  24VDC 100W

Smooth, Flicker-Free Dimming

Traditional LED driver and dimmer pairings can result in buzzing, flicker, or premature component wear. DimDrive eliminates those issues by embedding the dimming function within the driver itself.

  • 0.3%–100% dimming range gives precise control over light levels.
  • 16 kHz PWM output ensures flicker-free, silent performance, even in sensitive environments like retail displays or home offices.
  • Works seamlessly with 3-way switches, allowing convenient control from multiple wall locations.

These devices are not compatible with controllers. If you want the added functionality and flexibility of controllers you'll need to use drivers that do not dim as the controllers require constant 24VDC.

Switchex®

 Switchex

SWITCHEX® was the first in-wall LED driver, dimmer, and switch in one unit, simplifying LED array lighting systems. SWITCHEX® mounts in a standard in-wall switch box, accepts 120V AC and converts to low voltage DC.

SX-24V-DD-100W 12VDC 100W

  • First LED Driver + In-Wall Dimmer Switch in one unit.
  • Simplifies LED installation by eliminating compatibility issues between driver and dimmer.
  • Fits in a standard recessed electrical box.
  • 100% - 1% smooth dimming.
  • No minimum load.
  • Single Pole preset dimmer with on/off push switch.
  • Adjustable voltage output dial to address voltage drop.
  • Includes voltage barrier partition to install high and low voltage circuit in same switch box.
  • No derating required when ganging units.
  • Power failure memory: If power is interrupted, SWITCHEX will return to setting prior to interruption.
  • 3x included face plates: Glossy White, Glossy Light Almond, and Glossy Dark Brown (trim plates not included).

These devices are not compatible with controllers. If you want the added functionality and flexibility of controllers you'll need to use drivers that do not dim as the controllers require constant 24VDC.

FAQ

Do these drivers work with LED lighting other than tape light?

Yes. These drivers can power most 24VDC LED lighting products within their rated power. Contact us for details.

Is all tape light dimmable?

All the NSL tape we sell is dimmable but dimming is achieved in different ways depending on the drivers and controls used. See our article about dimming tape light here.

If I want more tape light than one driver can power how do I get it all to work together?

You can network multiple driver and tape circuits together with devices called amplifiers that synchronize the runs for uniform performance across the installation. See our article about running multiple tape circuits together here.
